In this role, you will bring garments to life through expert clothing alterations and garment construction, ensuring each piece fits perfectly and meets our high standards of quality. Your passion for fashion retail, combined with your technical skills in sewing and fabric handling, will help create customized apparel that delights our customers. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your tailoring expertise within a vibrant, customer-focused environment. Duties Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments to achieve precise fits for both men's and women's wear. Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to construct or modify garments with accuracy and care. Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure a professional finish that enhances the overall appearance of each piece. Assist customers by providing expert advice on fabric materials, garment construction, and alteration options to meet their specific needs. Manage garment sewing projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high-quality stitching standards. Handle various fabric materials with knowledge of their properties to select appropriate techniques for each alteration or custom apparel production. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper use of sewing equipment and pressing tools, adhering to safety protocols. Requirements Proven experience in clothing alterations within a fashion retail or tailoring environment. Skilled in garment sewing, stitching, hand sewing, and operating sewing machines efficiently. Familiarity with fabric materials and garment construction techniques for both men's wear tailoring and women's wear tailoring. Ability to operate pressing machines and presses safely while achieving crisp finishes on garments. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding their alteration needs. Basic math skills for measuring, pattern adjustments, and ensuring accurate sizing modifications. Knowledge of garment fitting principles and attention to detail to deliver flawless results. Experience working with various fabric types such as cotton, wool, silk, and synthetic blends is preferred.
