Job Duties:
Provide a positive customer experience by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints with fair, friendly, and courteous service. Operate cash register to process payments made by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers. Issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise. Keep all required paperwork (invoice and refund copies) secure and tidy until your end of shift register balancing. Proactively seek product knowledge to provide customers with information and identify upselling opportunities. Maintain a log of pricing discrepancies for managers. Help answer phones and directs customers to merchandise in the store. Verify customers' information in computer regarding taxes. Specifically if customer is in computer system to receive special tax rates. Communicate with fellow ASC employees for information or assistance using walkie-talkies As register traffic allows; Offer customers carry-out service at the completion of transactions, return shopping carts, process returned or abandoned merchandize, throw out trash etc. Maintain register supplies as needed (bags, paper, etc). Draft load tickets for large product purchases made within the store that are to be picked up in the yard. Any and all other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications for the position:
Experience working in a customer service role or previous cashier experience a plus Helpful, courteous, and positive attitude Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Detail Oriented Desire to work with people Willingness to learn Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly
Physical Expectations:
During the job, employees are regularly required to stand for extended periods, use their hands to handle or control objects, and perform tasks that involve reaching, climbing, kneeling, or crouching. The role involves frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, with occasional requirements to handle more with assistance or equipment. Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, are necessary. Verbal communication and the ability to hear are also required for safety and coordination.
