Job Description Are you looking for a meaningful position where your work directly supports affordable housing in Surry County? Habitat for Humanity of Greater Mount Airy is seeking a dependable, energetic ReStore Associate & Donation Driver to join our team. In this dual-purpose role, you will be the face of our organization—driving our donation box truck to collect donated items from community members, while also supporting daily retail operations, cashiering, and inventory management inside the store. Key Responsibilities Donation Pickup & Driving:
Drive the ReStore box truck/pickup truck safely to schedule residential and commercial donation pickups. Inspect donated items (furniture, appliances, building materials) on-site to ensure they meet store acceptance guidelines. Safely load, secure, and unload donated goods using hand trucks, dollies, and proper lifting techniques. Represent Habitat for Humanity professionally while interacting with donors in the community.
Retail & Cashier Operations:
Operate the Point of Sale (POS) register system to check out store shoppers accurately and efficiently. Provide friendly, helpful customer service to shoppers, donors, and volunteers. Help receive, clean, price, and stock incoming inventory on the sales floor. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized store and checkout area.
Qualifications & Requirements Driver's License:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (must meet insurance eligibility requirements).
Physical Ability:
Must be able to regularly lift and move heavy items (50-75+ lbs) with assistance.
Customer Service:
Strong communication skills and a courteous, professional demeanor.
Math & Cash Handling:
Basic math skills and comfort operating a register / POS system.
Teamwork:
Ability to direct and work alongside community volunteers and staff.
Background Check:
Ability to pass a standard pre-employment background check and/or drug screening.
