Position Summary The Mutuels/Sportsbook Cashier I is responsible for accurately and efficiently entering betting information into the system, printing tickets, processing payment transactions, and providing a superior guest experience in a friendly and professional environment. This position supports wagering operations by processing sports and horse racing wagers, maintaining accurate cash and card transactions, explaining wagering rules and procedures, and ensuring compliance with applicable department policies and gaming regulations. Key Responsibilities Accurately enter sports and horse racing wagers, print tickets, and issue payments in accordance with department policies and applicable state and federal gaming statutes and regulations. Follow established procedures for the sale and payout of wagering tickets. Educate guests by explaining wagering rules and procedures, including betting lines and odds. Maintain the assigned bank throughout the shift and ensure accuracy in all cash and card transactions. Balance the bank and cash drawer at the end of the designated shift. Maintain required inventory of supplies and keep the work area neat, clean, and organized. Effectively address guest questions, concerns, and complaints and escalate issues to management as appropriate. Maintain knowledge of current sports, sporting events, and horseracing events. Maintain current knowledge of property offerings and events. Follow department and company safety standards and maintain safety as a priority. Stay informed of new developments and available resources relevant to the department and make recommendations designed to maximize department and company success. Attend periodic meetings and required training sessions. Maintain knowledge of the gaming industry through continuing education and training. Present a neat and clean professional appearance. Sell and cash mutuel and sports betting tickets accurately. Provide excellent customer service and communication. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or GED. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and guest service skills. Ability to accurately process cash and card transactions. Ability to learn and explain wagering rules, procedures, betting lines, and odds. Ability to obtain and maintain a Nebraska Gaming License.
Preferred:
Experience as a Sportsbook and/or Mutuels Writer/Teller. One (1) year of experience in guest service and cash or credit card processing. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to work in a fast-paced gaming and hospitality environment. Ability to maintain accuracy while processing wagers and financial transactions. Frequent interaction and communication with guests and team members. Ability to use computer systems and other equipment necessary to enter wagering information, print tickets, and process transactions. Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
