A Cashier handles monetary transactions with customers. Takes customer payment for a product or service, provides change as needed and receipts for transactions. Provides accurate accounting of cash register funds, and provides customer service.

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. Cashier is responsible for accurately and efficiently checking out customer’s orders, while providing attentive and friendly customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding cashier operations, safety, and sanitation
Check out customers efficiently and accurately using correct scanning method
Bag customer orders
Maintain security /minimize losses through awareness of pricing errors, coupons, checks, EBT, WIC, bottom of carriage items, and other transactions
Provide courteous customer service; using please and thank you smiling, maintain eye contact with customers, and direct them to appropriate manager if necessary
Stock supplies in immediate area, as well as return shop backs, retrieve carts, and perform miscellaneous cleaning, facing, and straighten various shelf sections
Handle money, checks, and other media and distinguish between various forms of currency
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 14 years of age and 18 years of age to perform certain functions/tasks
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
Possess basic computer skills
Possess strong communication skills
