CDL-B (A preferred) with air brakes/tanked endorsement Grade II Collections or obtain one year Hoisting 4E or obtain in six months, WWTP License (preferred). SUMMARY The City of Chicopee's DPW Combined Overflow Department is hiring a Special Motor Equipment Operator. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining special equipment such as dump trucks, sewer jet rodder/vactor trucks. Rod trucks, TV camera equipment and vehicles, hydraulic winch trucks, power bucket machines, and other sewer cleaning/repairing equipment and vehicles. Engaging in the maintenance and repair of the City's collection systems
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE
Inspects, cleans, and repairs manholes, pipes, sewer lines, catch basins and all connected structures. Supervise assigned personnel in providing quality work assignments. Observes and instructs safe work habits. Uses power equipment and vehicles. Maintains written work and preventative maintenance work schedules. Gives both oral and written reports on work assignments as needed. Performs work from work orders, inputs work into palm pilots and/or other information recording devices as required. Downloads information into data collection devices. Originates and performs work orders and preventative maintenance/repair on the Collection System tools, equipment and vehicles. Operates, maintains, and repairs jet rodder/vactor truck, rod truck, TV camera, catch basin cleaner, hydraulic winch, bucket machine, and other sewer cleaning/repair equipment and vehicles. Work in sewers and in confined spaces. Performs lateral house connection cleaning and camera inspections as directed. Meets with the public and informs them of ongoing activities in regards to work assignments. Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) inspections maintenance and repairs. Submits verbal or written reports to City, MADEP, USEPA as required. Must work emergency on 'beeper' duty when needed. Performs all related duties as directed by the WPC Chief Operator or other supervising authority. Abides by City of Chicopee Health and Safety procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One (1) year related experience and/or training in the wastewater industry or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MA Class B CDL driver's license
•required (Class A preferred ) Air brakes and tanker endorsement
•required Grade II (2) Collection Systems License required or ability to obtain within one year. Massachusetts 4E Hoisting License required or ability to obtain within six (6) months. MA Wastewater Operator's license ( preferred ). Working knowledge of sewer cleaning vehicles, equipment and tools. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Working knowledge of pertinent Federal and State regulations.
