Job Description

Position Summary The Outreach Canvasser at Westside Family Preservation Services Network (WFPSN) will support the organization's activities under the California Workplace Outreach Project (CWOP). This position is responsible for conducting community outreach and education activities that inform farmworkers and community members about their labor rights, heat illness prevention, and available community resources. The Outreach Canvasser will engage directly with workers through door-to-door outreach, field visits, community events, and educational workshops throughout Huron and surrounding agricultural communities. This role plays a critical part in connecting workers to information, services, and support while assisting the CWOP Program in meeting grant deliverables and outreach goals. The position ensures that outreach efforts are responsive to community needs and aligned with CWOP objectives. Key ResponsibilitiesWorker Education and Support ✓ Educate workers on their labor rights and workplace protections. ✓ Provide information regarding wage theft, unpaid wages, missed breaks, and workplace concerns. ✓ Explain the process for filing labor-related complaints and provide referrals to appropriate agencies when needed. ✓ Connect workers with community resources and support services. Community Engagement and Outreach ✓ Conduct door-to-door outreach activities in Huron and surrounding rural communities. ✓ Participate in field visits and worker engagement activities throughout Fresno County. ✓ Distribute educational materials and resource information. Event Coordination ✓ Support event logistics, including outreach, participant registration, setup, and cleanup. ✓ Represent WFPSN at community events and outreach activities. ✓ Assist in achieving annual outreach goals and deliverables. Community Food Distribution Outreach ✓ Participate in community food distribution events organized or supported by WFPSN. ✓ Use these opportunities to educate workers about labor rights, heat illness prevention, and available services. Documentation and Reporting ✓ Maintain accurate records of outreach contacts and activities. ✓ Complete outreach forms, attendance sheets, activity logs, and required documentation. Meetings and Training ✓ Attend mandatory staff meetings, coalition meetings, and trainings. ✓ Participate in professional development opportunities related to worker rights and outreach. ✓ Maintain communication with the Program Manager regarding outreach progress, community concerns, and barriers encountered. Qualifications ✓ High school diploma or GED required. ✓ Experience working with community-based programs, outreach initiatives, customer service, or social services preferred. ✓ Experience working with agricultural communities is highly desirable. ✓ Strong communication and interpersonal skills. ✓ Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ✓ Ability to work with confidential information and sensitive situations. ✓ Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred. ✓ Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and email. ✓ Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation required. Physical Requirements ✓ Ability to walk for extended periods during canvassing activities. ✓ Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. ✓ Ability to lift and carry outreach materials weighing up to 25 pounds. ✓ Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for outreach events and community activities. Job Types ✓ Full-Time Schedule ✓ Monday - Friday (occasional weekend work may be required). ✓ 8hrs per day
