Job Description

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes during elections? This is your opportunity! Become a non-partisan observer with Observe New Mexico Elections. Nonpartisan election observers represent all voters, do not interfere in the election process, and report what they see. They receive training, sign a code of conduct and verify that election processes are followed consistently. When independent, nonpartisan observers are present in polling places, voters have greater confidence that elections are fair, transparent and well-run. Election observation findings help election officials catch small issues before they become bigger problems and give community members a direct way to participate in our democracy. We will be actively recruiting for observers in the summer of 2026.
Requirements:
Registered voter in your county Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
What You'll Do:
Attend required trainings on state election procedures and nonpartisan observation Observe at polling places during the election period Record observations using a structured checklist Follow strict non-interference and nonpartisan guidelines Help strengthen public trust in elections across New Mexico Why Become an Observer?
