Utah Rivers Council is hiring several Seasonal Grassroots Organizers to expand our statewide organizing program. There is potential for this to become a permanent position after the summer. Some of the West's most important waters, including Utah's Great Salt Lake and the Colorado River, are at a critical turning point in the face of climate change and excessive upstream water use. Protecting Utahn's and our water future requires building people power, strengthening community relationships, and mobilizing public action.
For over 31 years, Utah Rivers Council has worked to protect and restore Utah's rivers through bold advocacy, research, and public education. We are seeking motivated, courageous individuals who are ready to engage communities and grow our grassroots network to help us succeed in our campaign to hold Utah accountable to saving the Great Salt Lake.
This role is ideal for self-driven individuals who thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven work and are energized by activism. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent writing ability, and comfort engaging with diverse audiences are necessary traits for this role. We are seeking candidates with a baseline understanding of water policy, river ecology, or natural resources policy, but experience in these areas is not required. Some experience with volunteer coordination, community organizing, or outreach campaigns is also preferred but not required.
This is a full-time or part-time seasonal position with opportunity to apply for a permanent position following the summer term. Compensation is hourly and dependent upon experience. The URC strives to maintain a fun, informal work environment where performance and progress are measured by real success. While we like to work hard, a healthy work-life balance and periodic paid time off is part of our success. We strongly suggest you visit our website to learn more about our work before applying. Please include whether or not you explored our website in your cover letter.
