Job Description
AIS is looking for a Technical and Strategic Subject Matter Expert to work in Golden, CO. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! Responsibilities This position will provide specialized technical and strategic expertise to the NLR Water Power Program staff in implementing DOE H2O-sponsored projects focused on improved performance, lower costs, and reduced environmental impacts for marine energy technologies. This position will provide strategic technical services to NLR Water Power projects. Specifically, the position will provide strategic advisement for NLR's licensing and regulatory for marine energy, support for marine energy commercialization projects, support for H2O's implementation of the Tidal FOA awards, and general marine energy portfolio advisement, as requested. Marine Energy Licensing and Regulatory Strategic Advisement The selected applicant shall apply strategic and technical knowledge and skills necessary for the development and implementation of NLR's marine energy licensing and regulatory portfolio, which can include review of presentation materials and toolkits, as well as conduct industry discussions, and review published materials, among other duties as assigned. Tidal Energy Advancement Industry Support The employee shall provide strategic and technical advice to NLR researchers as part of DE-FOA-0002845, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Section 41006(a)(2): U.S. Tidal Energy Advancement, specifically on the siting, engagement, and regulatory processes associated with advancing awardees, among other duties as assigned. General Marine Energy Strategic and Technical Support The employee shall perform other strategic and technical advisory tasks for the NLR marine energy subprogram. Qualifications Expert knowledge of marine hydrokinetic permitting processes and regulatory bodies. Proven engagement for the betterment of remote, island, and coastal communities, preferably around technology adoption. Deep understanding of the interactions between energy systems and coastal ecosystems, related challenges and engineering problem solving and investigation techniques. Demonstrated leadership and project management experience. Experience collaborating with the Department of Energy, other National laboratories, Universities, and other governmental agencies that work in Ocean Economy sectors (e.g. DoD, Naval Research labs, etc.). Familiarity with marine regulations for instrumentation and ocean energy.
