We are known for professionalism, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a customer experience that reflects the quality of the systems we install. Our business is primarily residential, with a growing small commercial segment. We are not the low-cost option, and we are not trying to be. We are looking for an experienced solar sales professional who can represent a premium local brand and help customers make smart long-term energy decisions. Position Overview Newport Solar is seeking a Solar & Energy Advisor to help grow our residential and small commercial business across Rhode Island. This is a consultative sales role focused approximately 80% on residential opportunities and 20% on small commercial opportunities . The right candidate will be experienced in solar sales, professional in the home and in front of business owners, highly responsive, and detail-oriented. This person should understand how solar works in Rhode Island and be comfortable guiding customers from the initial conversation through signed contract. This is not a canvassing role . Lead sources are expected to be approximately 60% company-generated, 20% referral-based, and 20% self-generated through networking and relationship development . This role is best suited for someone who takes ownership of their pipeline, follows up consistently, and wants to build a long term book of business in Rhode Island. You will be supported by internal design and operations teams, so you can stay focused on selling and building strong customer relationships. Responsibilities Respond quickly to inbound leads and conduct initial screening calls Lead in-home and virtual consultations with prospective customers Conduct site visits and gather the information needed to move opportunities forward Educate homeowners and small business owners on solar, battery backup, EV charging, and related energy solutions Present proposals clearly and professionally Explain Rhode Island solar economics, customer options, and financing structures Guide customers through the sales process in a consultative, professional manner Close residential and small commercial contracts Maintain strong follow-up habits and manage your pipeline with discipline Generate new business through referrals, networking, and self-sourced opportunities Work closely with internal design, operations, and leadership teams to ensure a smooth handoff after contract signing Stay involved when needed to help communicate key items and support a strong customer experience post-sale Products and Project Types This role will sell: Residential solar Energy storage / battery backup EV charging Small commercial solar projects, generally in the 25 kW to 250 kW range Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of solar sales experience Strong practical understanding of how solar works in Rhode Island Proven ability to run a consultative sales process and close deals Professional presence with homeowners and small business owners Strong responsiveness, organization, and attention to detail Valid driver's license Reliable transportation Ability to travel throughout Rhode Island for appointments, consultations, and site visits Ability to work in a hybrid role, including regular time in our North Kingstown office Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of solar sales experience Experience selling batteries and EV charging solutions Experience selling PPAs stronglypreferred Experience selling small commercial solar projects Strong local network or demonstrated ability to generate referral and self-sourced leads Who You Are Consultative, not pushy Professional and polished Responsive and accountable Detail-oriented Comfortable representing a premium brand Able to explain technical concepts in a clear, practical way Motivated to win business the right way Team-oriented and customer-focused To Apply If you are an experienced solar sales professional who wants to represent a quality-first Rhode Island company and help homeowners and small businesses make smart energy decisions, we would like to hear from you.
