Position Summary Convenience Distribution Association (CDA) is the trade organization working on behalf of convenience products distributors across the United States with distributor members representing more than $110 billion in US convenience product sales. CDA is headquartered in Reston, VA. CDA is seeking a Manager, Sales & Member Engagement. The Manager, Sales & Member Engagement is responsible for driving revenue growth and membership expansion through the sale of memberships, sponsorships, exhibition space, advertising, and event participation. This position serves as a key relationship manager for current and prospective supplier/allied members, delivering a high-touch experience that supports recruitment, retention, and engagement across the association. This role blends proactive business development with member relationship management and is instrumental in growing non-dues revenue while strengthening member participation in the association's programs, events, and offerings. This position reports to the Senior Director of Member Engagement, Marketing & Sales and works collaboratively across departments to support strategic sales and engagement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Membership Sales & Prospecting Proactively identify, prospect, and pursue new membership opportunities to grow the association's membership base Conduct outreach to prospective members via phone, email, virtual meetings, and in-person networking Follow up on membership inquiries and effectively communicate the value of membership Manage and grow the association's pipeline of membership prospects and sales opportunities Support membership retention efforts through ongoing relationship management and engagement Work with industry partners to identify membership prospects Sponsorship, Advertising & Revenue Generation Sell sponsorship packages across association events, programs, publications, and digital platforms Manage advertising sales for association media, including but not limited to print magazine advertising and digital/web advertising opportunities Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities to maximize member and sponsor participation Develop customized proposals and sales packages aligned with member/sponsor goals Meet or exceed established revenue goals for sponsorship, advertising, and membership sales Event Sales & Participation Drive event revenue through exhibitor sales Conduct outreach to promote participation in association events Partner with internal staff to ensure successful fulfillment of sponsorship and exhibitor benefits Provide event support and on-site assistance as needed Member Engagement & Relationship Management Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned members, sponsors, and prospects Build and maintain strong relationships to enhance member satisfaction and retention Promote member participation in association programs, committees, events, and volunteer opportunities Gather member feedback and communicate insights to leadership to improve member experience Strategy, Reporting & Collaboration Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and member interactions in CRM/database Track and report on membership growth, revenue performance, retention, and engagement metrics Collaborate with marketing team on campaigns to support membership, sponsorship, advertising, and event sales initiatives Assist in developing sales materials, sponsorship prospectuses, and promotional collateral Lead the development and execution of integrated campaigns to drive membership growth, sponsorship sales, advertising revenue, and event participation Develop, manage, and continuously refine sales materials, sponsorship prospectuses, advertising information, and promotional collateral to support revenue generation and business development efforts. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience 5-7+ years of experience in sales, business development, account management, or association membership, preferably in the convenience or distribution sector. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales/revenue goals Experience selling sponsorships, advertising, memberships, or event participation strongly preferred Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills Experience with CRM/database systems preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Willingness to travel for events, conferences, and member meetings as needed Willingness to work some evenings and weekends during peak event season Experience in the convenience distribution industry is strongly preferred to ensure a deep understanding of member needs, market dynamics, and key supplier relationships.
