Job Description

The Ocean Community YMCA now has part-time opportunities at the Welcome Center at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch. Evening and weekend hours available. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.25 per hour. The Welcome Center Staff Member is the first point of contact for members and guests, helping to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment that reflects the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility . This role ensures excellent customer service, handles membership-related tasks, and supports safe and smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet members and guests with warmth and professionalism Assist with membership inquiries, registrations, and check-ins Answer phone calls and provide accurate information about YMCA programs and services Handle cash and credit card transactions Maintain a clean and organized Welcome Center area Enforce YMCA policies in a respectful and consistent manner Respond to member concerns or incidents, escalating issues when necessary Support program and facility staff by communicating member needs and scheduling updates
Qualifications:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills Previous customer service experience preferred Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and membership software experience is a plus) Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail Current CPR certification or willing to obtain (YMCA will train)
