GED Full Job Description Overview:
Dohrn Transfer is your complete Midwestern transportation partner. We offer less-than-truckload, truckload and value-added services throughout our 10-state service area. Our family operated company provides the attention and flexibility that only a regional carrier can, backed by excellence in service and powerful logistical tools. Dohrn is seeking a Part Time Yard Runner at our Northlake Terminal! Pay is $18.50/
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 4pm to 9pm Purpose Entry level role responsible for greeting incoming truck drivers, collecting paperwork, coordinating door assignments via radio, and delivering documents to the office.
Responsibilities:
Greet incoming truck drivers as they pull into the yard Collect bills of lading and other required paperwork from drivers Communicate with the dock via radio to obtain door assignments Relay instructions to drivers clearly and professionally Deliver collected paperwork to the office promptly Maintain a safe and organized yard environment Provide basic assistance and direction to drivers as needed Report any issues or delays to supervisors Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Strong communication skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently Comfortable using a two way radio Ability to walk and stand for extended periods Working Conditions/Physical Demands Primarily sedentary work, which involves sitting most of the time May be occasionally required to exert 25 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects The general office environment is favorable; Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are minimal hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc; Visual Acuity including regular use of items including a computer screen or monitor Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information; May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
