Our mission is to end local hunger through access to healthy food. The Open Door is the largest food shelf in Dakota County providing fresh and healthy food to more than 25,000 individuals each month through a variety of innovative programs. Our Mobile Food programs make healthy food accessible to more than 30 sites across Dakota County each month. Our work is powered by more than 1,200 volunteers each year and supported by a generous community of donors who make our work possible. Position summary The Food Rescue Coordinator (FRC) is a vital part of our Logistics and Inventory team focused on supporting The Open Door's rescue, sorting, staging and distribution of fresh and healthy food. The FRC is responsible for supporting volunteers and staff in the daily rescuing, sorting and staging of inventory for both onsite and offsite distribution. This position will have a variety of duties, including driving fleet vehicles to obtain food from grocery stores, food banks, and community partners and delivering food to community distribution sites. This position will support offsite and onsite distributions as needed and will work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth daily operations. This position will play a supportive role in teaching and enforcing food safety and warehouse safety standards for the organization. As requested, the FRC will engage in additional special projects that may support other parts of the organization's work. The FRC will work under the direction of the Logistics and Inventory Manager (LIM) to ensure volunteers are trained, supported, and empowered to serve all clients in a dignified, respectful, and non-judgmental manner. The FRC will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization. This position is located in an industrial setting with fluctuating temperature ranges, and involves lifting, loading, and driving Food Rescue vehicles. Primary Duties & Essential Responsibilities Support the staging, sorting and delivery of perishable and nonperishable inventory for both offsite and onsite operations Lead, train and support volunteers in all aspects of their duties, including food rescue, sorting, and staging Foster good relationships with offsite partners to maintain excellent collaboration for all parties Adhere to and oversee application of Food Safety protocols for all food procurement and storage efforts ensuring compliance with Minnesota Department of Agriculture standards Support and enforce Warehouse Safety efforts under the direction of the LIM Support efforts to ensure the accurate collection and recording of inventory weight for use in financial reporting Perform related data entry as requested Keep the warehouse and dock area clean and organized Experience and Skills- 1-2 years related operations or warehouse experience
- Ability to drive a 26' truck, training provided
- Ability to operate an electric pallet jack, training provided
- Must be able to acquire a Commercial Drivers Medical Certification within 60 days of hire
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds, occasionally up to 80 pounds
- Ability to occasionally work outdoors during all types of weather
- Proven to be proactive in identifying and completing work independently
- Ability to kneel, bend, twist and climb a ladder, Ideal Competencies

- Ability to work with a sense of urgency as the situation requires Work Schedule The Food Rescue Coordinator will maintain a flexible work schedule consisting primarily of weekdays from 7am-3pm.
