Job Description The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.85/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Flex:
A position working an average of 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).
Job Summary:
The Visual Merchandising Specialist will contribute to the Retail departmental revenue goals through visual merchandising and product promotion. The Specialist will assist with all merchandising aspects across all Estate retail stores, including the Winery retail store. Assistance includes space planning, seasonal change-outs, and implementation of all products into profitable, manageable merchandise displays consistent with Biltmore's brand and standards. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate with staff at each retail location to monitor, adjust, and change visual promotions according to store, department, and company needs/goals.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Responsible for working closely with the visual manager, buyers, inventory control, store managers, and retail staff to facilitate communication between all areas. 2. Assist with planning and execution of all product placement and merchandising. 3. Maintain individual looks for each store to create a separate identity for each retail location. 4. Maintains a courteous, professional demeanor and ensures a prompt, friendly approach to all internal and external guests. 5. Create focal displays of seasonal merchandise to draw guests through the store. 6. Analyze individual displays to ensure functionality, maintainability, and profitability. 7. Stays current with industry trends and makes recommendations/suggestions on merchandising tactics.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Make recommendations on ways to promote individual SKUs. 2. Consistently maintain knowledge of merchandise promotion. 3. Organize workflow and follow through with minimal supervision. 4. Provide general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and company as required.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma required. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred. 2. At least two (2) years of related retail or design experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. An ideal candidate will have had previous merchandising experience in an upscale retail environment. 3. Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class internal/external guest service. 4. Knowledge of visual merchandising promotion, techniques, and strategy helpful. 5. Outstanding attention to detail with a focus on quality; ability to understand and effectively execute Biltmore brand aesthetics and design. 6. Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. 7. Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and troubleshoot; should be able to creatively problem solve and exercise good judgment. 8. Strong project and time management, organizational, and planning skills.
Physical Requirements:
1. This position requires the ability to carry equipment, climb stairs/ladders, and work in confined areas. 2. Manual skills within this position are critical on both large and small scales. 3. This position requires the ability to constantly lift and move merchandise and displays up to 35 pounds frequently; up to 50 pounds occasionally. 4. Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. 5. Requires travel between all retail locations; must have a valid driver's license.
