This role is responsible for stocking and rotating products, maintaining attractive displays, monitoring inventory levels, supporting promotional activity, and helping ensure product freshness and proper presentation. The Route Merchandiser works closely with branch personnel, route sales representatives, route supervisors, and customer personnel to support product availability, customer satisfaction, and overall market performance. Key Responsibilities Stock, rotate, and merchandise Blue Bell products at customer locations within the assigned route or territory. Maintain product displays in a clean, organized, and attractive manner to support product visibility and sales performance. Monitor product freshness, rotate inventory appropriately, and remove or report outdated or damaged products as needed. Assist with promotional displays and special merchandising efforts to support sales initiatives and customer needs. Communicate product, display, inventory, or service concerns to the appropriate driver salesperson, route supervisor, or branch personnel. Maintain positive working relationships with customer personnel and represent Blue Bell in a professional manner. Follow route schedules and complete assigned merchandising activities accurately and on time. Complete required reports, paperwork, or other documentation assigned. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and customer site requirements while performing merchandising activities. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of merchandising, product rotation, customer service, and inventory handling preferred. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow route schedules and instructions. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with customer personnel and branch employees. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at customer locations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience in merchandising, retail, customer service, route support, or a related field preferred. Valid driver's license required; safe driving record preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and travel to customer locations as needed. Must be able to work a full-time schedule, which may include varied hours based on branch operational needs. Demonstrated ability to support merchandising activities, maintain product quality, and work effectively as part of a team.
Physical Requirements Mobility:
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout customer locations, branch facilities, and storage areas.
Manual Dexterity:
Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle products, rotate stock, arrange displays, complete paperwork, and use basic communication devices.
Lifting and Carrying:
Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull product, display materials, or other items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Postural Activities:
Requires frequent bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and occasional climbing as needed to stock shelves, rotate product, and maintain displays.
Vision:
Requires near and distance vision sufficient to read product labels, pricing, inventory information, and monitor display conditions.
Communication:
Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication with customer personnel, branch employees, and supervisors.
Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to refrigerated or freezer areas, retail backrooms, storage areas, loading docks, and varying temperatures during merchandising activities. Work Environment This position operates in a combination of customer, retail, branch, storage, and field environments and is responsible for supporting Blue Bell merchandising activities within an assigned route or territory. The role routinely uses basic communication tools, paperwork, and company systems as needed. Regular interaction with customer personnel, route sales representatives, route supervisors, and branch employees is required. The position may require travel to customer locations and exposure to refrigerated storage areas, retail backrooms, loading docks, and outdoor weather conditions. Work schedule and environment subject to change based on business needs and assigned duties.
