This role leads localized product assortment strategy across in-venue stores, e-commerce, and third-party retail channels, and partners closely with individual Team Merchandise Managers to maximize regional profitability and sales. The right candidate is a strategic, data-driven retail leader who can balance regional standardization with the local flavor that makes each team's fanbase unique, while developing and mentoring a team of merchandise managers across multiple markets.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial & P&L Management Own regional sales targets, profit margins, pricing strategies, and inventory turnover across all teams to maximize revenue. Conduct quarterly inventory reconciliations across all locations and report variances to senior leadership. Monitor budgets for each team's merchandise operation, identifying opportunities to improve margin and reduce shrink. Assortment Planning Partner with and assist buying team to curate localized product mixes that reflect local sports cultures, team identities, and fanbases. Maximize theme night and special promotion merchandise opportunities across the region. Ensure seasonal and new product rollouts are executed consistently and on time across all managed teams. Team Leadership Manage, coach, and mentor a team of 2-4 Team Merchandise Managers and their respective floor staff. Ensure consistent execution of product display standards and in-store marketing campaigns across all locations. Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management for merchandise leadership within the region. Conduct site visits to each managed team to evaluate execution and provide hands-on coaching. Data Analysis Analyze weekly and monthly style and SKU productivity, including margins, sell-through, and customer behavior, to refine inventory strategies. Communicate product needs, performance trends, and reorder recommendations to the buying team. Build regional performance reporting and dashboards to track KPIs across all managed teams. Marketing Assist team managers in the development of merchandise marketing calendar and ensure it is communicated to team marketing departments for execution. Collaborate with team managers on Zawyer online store, in-game and in-store marketing initiatives and ensure they are executed in a timely manner Confirm the tracking and reporting on the sales impact of marketing initiatives is completed by team manager to assist with future planning.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with Zawyer Sports marketing team to ensure promotions effectively drive store traffic, boost sales, and enhance brand visibility across the region. Coordinate with Zawyer auction manager and team merchandise managers to develop cohesive sales and marketing plans for jersey auctions, special event nights, and online auctions. Assist regional teams with logistics and inventory readiness for "hot markets" such as playoffs, all-star events, and other high-profile occasions. Ensure Zawyer store operating procedures, onboarding and training procedures, security protocols, and inventory receiving processes consistently followed across managed teams. Serve as an escalation point for customer issues that cannot be resolved at the team level. Attend regional and organizational management meetings to build collaboration across departments and locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
8+ years of retail management experience required, including experience managing multiple locations or managers; sports retail experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in business, sports management, or related field preferred. Proven track record of owning P&L responsibility and driving profitability Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of managers across multiple markets. Ability to travel to managed team locations, including nights, weekends, and high-profile events. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate sales and inventory data into actionable strategy. Proficiency in e-commerce and online marketing tools. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Proficiency with retail POS software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and walking; ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Salary commensurate with experience.
