About the Role We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Parts Department Lead to oversee inventory, procurement, vendor coordination, and team operations within a fast-paced yacht repair and service facility in Fort Lauderdale. This role is essential to keeping high-value marine projects moving without delay. You will ensure technicians and project teams have the right parts at the right time while leading a small but critical department that directly impacts operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. What You'll Do Lead & Develop the Parts Team Supervise, train, and support parts staff and inventory coordinators Set expectations, monitor performance, and provide ongoing coaching Build a team culture focused on urgency, accuracy, and service Schedule coverage to support daily operations and peak workload periods Manage Inventory With Precision Oversee all parts receiving, storage, tracking, and distribution Maintain accurate inventory levels and prevent job delays Conduct regular cycle counts and full inventory audits Set and manage min/max stock levels for critical marine parts Reduce obsolete inventory and improve stock efficiency Ensure proper handling and storage of sensitive marine components Source & Manage Vendors Order and source parts from marine manufacturers and suppliers Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and distributors Identify new suppliers to improve pricing and availability Expedite urgent orders to keep projects on schedule Monitor vendor performance and reliability Improve Processes & Systems Maintain and improve inventory tracking systems and SOPs Track ordering activity, usage trends, and procurement costs Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements Coordinate with project managers and technicians to forecast needs Ensure accurate documentation of all parts transactions Support Operations & Service Teams Provide fast, accurate parts support to technicians and project teams Communicate order status, delays, and alternatives proactively Resolve parts issues quickly to avoid downtime Support warranty claims, returns, and special orders Maintain strong internal communication across departments Financial Responsibility Manage departmental purchasing within budget guidelines Track inventory value, turnover, and purchasing trends Approve purchase orders within assigned authority Support accounting with accurate cost allocation and records What We're Looking For Required Experience 5+ years in parts, inventory, procurement, or supply chain (marine, automotive, or heavy equipment preferred) 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role Strong understanding of yacht or marine systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, electronics) Ability to read parts manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams Experience with inventory management systems or ERP platforms Core Skills Strong organizational and time management skills High attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication with technicians, vendors, and leadership Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment Comfortable working in a marine yard/industrial setting Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed Nice to Have ABYC certification or marine industry training Experience with marine ERP or advanced inventory systems Spanish bilingual skills (strongly preferred in South Florida) Existing marine vendor/supplier relationships Background in yacht yards, shipyards, or marine service centers Manufacturer training (Caterpillar, MTU, Northern Lights, etc.) Knowledge of international shipping and customs processes What We Offer Compensation Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based bonuses Annual performance reviews Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Paid sick leave Growth & Development Ongoing training and certification opportunities Manufacturer and industry training programs Career advancement opportunities in a growing organization Support for professional development and industry events Work Environment Modern, organized parts and warehouse facility Climate-controlled office and storage areas High-end yacht and marine equipment exposure Strong team culture focused on accountability and execution Located in Fort Lauderdale's premier marine hub Why This Role Matters This is a key operational leadership role.
