Full Job Description Description:
Position Summary The Parts Counter Person is responsible for assisting guests, technicians, and service advisors in identifying, locating, and supplying automotive parts efficiently and accurately. This role ensures proper parts selection, timely fulfillment of orders, and excellent guest service within the dealership's Parts Department. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about automotive parts, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist retail, wholesale, service, and body shop guests in identifying and ordering automotive parts. Look up parts using catalogs, electronic systems, and dealership management systems (DMS). Provide accurate pricing, availability, and delivery information to guests and staff. Process parts orders, returns, warranties, and special requests. Maintain accurate records of parts transactions and inventory movement. Receive, stock, and organize incoming parts shipments. Ensure timely fulfillment of internal and external parts requests. Communicate with vendors regarding availability, pricing, and order status. Assist with inventory control, including cycle counts and stock organization. Support service and body shop departments with parts delivery and coordination. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the parts counter and storage areas. Handle guest inquiries and resolve issues professionally and efficiently. Follow dealership policies, manufacturer guidelines, and safety procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by Parts Manager.
Requirements:
Qualifications Strong guest service and communication skills. Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems preferred. Ability to accurately look up and identify parts information. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. Basic math and computer skills required. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Professional and courteous demeanor. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Prior automotive parts or dealership experience preferred. Experience with dealership management systems (DMS) or parts catalogs is a plus. On-the-job training may be provided. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to operate computers, parts systems, and office equipment. Ability to move throughout parts storage, service, and body shop areas. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. Work Environment Fast-paced automotive dealership parts department environment with frequent interaction among service, body shop, customers, and vendors. Moderate noise levels and regular movement of parts and inventory are common. Occasional extended hours may be required based on dealership operational needs.
