Job Description

Parts Specialist-Fleet Department 7:00 am
  • 3:30 pm or 2:30 pm
  • 11:00 pm | Full-time | Grade 3 Bold, organized, and dependable
  • you're the go-to person who keeps the shop moving, the shelves stocked, and the technicians working without missing a beat.
If you like fast-paced days, problem-solving, and being the backbone of operations, this role is for you. What You'll Do You'll keep our 2,200+ vehicle and equipment fleet running by making sure technicians have the right parts at the right time. From ordering and inventory to vendor coordination and customer service at the parts window, you're essential to keeping the City moving. Key Responsibilities Issue parts, tools, and shop supplies quickly and accurately to technicians and departments Order, receive, inspect, and stock parts while maintaining organized inventory and records Coordinate with vendors and drive to local suppliers for pickups when needed Process warranties, returns, core credits, and reconcile daily deliveries Enter and track all parts activity in Faster software and follow purchasing guidelines What You Bring | Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent At least 6 months of automotive, truck, or heavy equipment parts experience Working knowledge of vehicle or equipment components Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay active throughout the shift Valid Indiana driver's license Technical Skills & Knowledge Inventory systems or fleet software experience (Faster or similar preferred) Basic math and recordkeeping skills Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced shop environment Strong communication and customer service mindset Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne You're not just stocking shelves
