at Champlain Valley Equipment in Saint Albans, Vermont, United States Job Description Are you mechanically inclined, have an agricultural background, or have experience working at a dealership or in a parts department? If so, you might be a great fit for our open Parts Counter Person position! We are a busy agricultural, recreational and light construction equipment dealership seeking a reliable and highly motivated parts counter person for our St. Albans, Vermont store. Duties include, but not limited to: customer parts sales in person and over the phone parts order processing in-store merchandising cycle counting Must haves include: ability to think independently good communication skills excellent customer service skills proficiency with computers Experience in parts is preferred. This position is full time, with some Saturdays required. Health insurance, 401k, performance-based bonuses, clothing allowance, and other benefits provided. Pay commensurate with experience. Please send resume. Job tasks that can be expected as a parts counter person:
  • Read catalogs, microfiche viewers, or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.
  • Determine replacement parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers' descriptions of malfunctions.
  • Receive and fill telephone orders for parts.
  • Fill customer orders from stock.
  • Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.
  • Receive payment or obtain credit authorization.
  • Take inventory of stock.
  • Advise customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
  • Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective parts or refund money.
  • Mark and store parts in stockrooms according to prearranged systems.
  • Discuss use and features of various parts, based on knowledge of machines or equipment.
  • Demonstrate equipment to customers and explain functioning of equipment.
  • Place new merchandise on display.
  • Measure parts, using precision measuring instruments, to determine whether similar parts may be machined to required sizes.
