Job Description
Job Title:
Parts Runner The Parts Runner maintains a clean, safe, and well-organized facility by supporting shop operations, parts inventory, and material handling. This role performs routine cleaning and maintenance of restrooms, shops, yards, and conex areas, manages inventory records, restocks the shop, and handles deliveries, loading and unloading of trucks, and parts pick-up as directed. Responsibilities Unload delivery trucks safely and efficiently, including receiving parts and materials and verifying deliveries as requested. Pick up parts and materials from vendors or other locations and make timely deliveries to the appropriate departments or personnel. Maintain restrooms, shop areas, yards, and conex areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition by performing routine cleaning and restocking supplies. Pull trucks out of the yard each morning and return them to the yard each evening, ensuring they are fueled and ready for routine operational use. Keep shops clean and well maintained by dumping scrap bins, cleaning the conex area, organizing waterjet scraps, gathering and managing shop rags, cleaning out saws, and restocking parts and materials. Ensure dumpsters are cleaned out on a weekly basis and that waste and scrap materials are disposed of properly. Assist crafts personnel by cutting materials to size and supporting other shop tasks as requested. Perform routine machine maintenance, including oiling machines and changing saw blades in accordance with safety and maintenance procedures. Maintain accurate inventory of parts and materials by completing weekly inventory forms and updating records as needed. Ensure buildings and gates are unlocked and ready for personnel each morning and locked, secured, and safe each night after business hours. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes, when qualified, to move materials safely around the shop and yard. Support shipping and receiving activities, including wrapping, packaging, labeling, and staging materials and parts for shipment. Read and interpret basic blueprints and job instructions to identify required parts, materials, and preparation steps. Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders when delivering parts or coordinating materials. Drive company vehicles safely in accordance with traffic laws and company policies to transport parts, materials, and equipment. Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment by reporting hazards, maintaining clear work areas, and using proper personal protective equipment. Perform other duties of a similar nature as requested to support overall shop and yard operations. Essential Skills Ability to read a tape measure and calipers accurately for measuring materials and parts. Strong customer service skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Solid problem-solving skills to address issues related to inventory, materials, and shop support. Effective communication skills to coordinate tasks, deliveries, and support with team members and supervisors. Ability to be a self-starter and work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and lead by example in a shop and yard environment. Ability to perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, climb, crawl, walk, pull, lift, grasp, and use fine motor dexterity, as well as see and observe work areas and materials. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in a busy shop and yard environment. Ability to work outdoors under adverse and varied weather conditions. Proficiency in basic material handling, including loading and unloading trucks and organizing parts and materials. High School Diploma or GED. Valid Washington State Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ability to provide a driving abstract as part of the employment application process. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in fabrication, pump repair, or general fabrication shop environments. Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including wrapping, labeling, and staging materials. Experience with parts inventory management and organization in a shop or warehouse setting. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints to identify parts and material requirements. Experience with troubleshooting basic issues related to materials, parts, and shop operations. Skill in operating forklifts and overhead cranes for safe material handling, where training and authorization are provided. Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage areas, inventory records, and shop supplies. Experience with cleaning and maintaining industrial or shop environments, including restrooms, yards, and work areas. Comfort with driving company vehicles for parts pick-up and deliveries in a safe and professional manner. Ability to support shop prep activities, including material preparation and parts staging for production or repair work. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a fabrication and pump repair shop environment that includes fabrication shops and shipping and receiving areas. You will work in and around active industrial equipment, including saws, fabrication machinery, and material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. The position involves both indoor and outdoor work, often in varied and sometimes adverse weather conditions. You will spend much of the day on your feet, walking and standing for extended periods, while performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, pulling, and moving materials and parts. The schedule typically follows a 4 x 10-hour workday structure, supporting consistent hours. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with regular cleaning of restrooms, shops, yards, and conex areas, as well as structured shipping and receiving operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasco, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
