Job Description
Overview An Agricultural Parts Specialist is responsible for assisting customers and helping them purchase the correct parts for their equipment, managing the inventory, sales, and distribution of parts for agricultural machinery. The role requires in-depth knowledge of agricultural equipment, excellent customer service skills, accurate and prompt billing of parts sales and orders. The ability to maintain organized and efficient ordering and inventory systems.
Key Responsibilities Sales and Customer Service:
Assist customers in identifying and purchasing the correct parts for their equipment, providing expert advice and solutions. Greeting customers upon arrival and over the phone, using their name as appropriate, waiting on them promptly, and thanking them for their business. Asks appropriate questions to determine the best solution to the customers' parts need. Utilizes all available resources to identify the optimal solution.Order Processing:
Process daily and stock orders received efficiently, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of parts. Record requests for orders from customers in the appropriate vendor logs to ensure Parts Manager has information to process daily orders. Assist service technicians daily while out in the field with retrieving or ordering parts timely for repairs to be completed promptly. Recognizing that shop orders are equally important to the Parts departmentDocumentation:
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales, and inventory.Inventory Management:
Maintain, organize, and clear areas of parts inventory to ensure availability, prevent over ordering, and minimize downtime for agricultural machinery. Asks appropriate questions to determine the best solution to the customers' parts need. Utilizes all available resources to identify the optimal solution. Conduct price analysis and manage procurement processes to optimize purchasing decisions. Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain up-to-date records of inventory and transactions.Problem Solving:
Troubleshoot issues related to parts and equipment, offering practical solutions to customers to help with equipment downtime. Work to build a solid business relationship with customers and be a resource for questions. Refer other sales opportunities to sales staff when appropriate. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe area. Generates an invoice, accepts payment, and accurately processes the transaction. Coordinates shipments incoming and outbound from the dealership. Goes through parts orders as they arrive, distribute and match them with orders. Contact customers and notify them when orders are in and verify the billing is accurate and complete.• Refer other sales opportunities to sales staff when appropriate.Supplier Relations:
assist in maintaining relationships with vendors / suppliers to ensure correct vendor billing and available parts inventory.Technical Expertise:
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in agricultural machinery to provide informed recommendations for customers. Previously related experience preferred. Knowledge of farm equipment preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with people. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required. Ability to use a computer and current software programs required. Assists in maintaining an accurate inventory of all parts on hand, participates in physical inventory process as requested and updating inventory systems. Stays up to date on equipment and vendors by attending training and viewing product bulletins.Qualifications:
Education:
High-school diploma, additional coursework or certification in agricultural or mechanics preferredExperience:
Preferred experience in parts management, sales or repairs. Strong understanding of agricultural machinery and customer needs. Skills Attention to detail. Strong customer service skills Excellent communication skills. Strong organizational abilities Proficiency in computer skills to assist in updating software or incorporate social media Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions. Experience with data entry and maintaining accurate records.
