Job:
The Pricing Assistant supports the daily execution of the store's pricing process by accurately pricing, tagging, and preparing donated merchandise for sale in accordance with established standards. This role helps maintain production flow, pricing consistency, and floor readiness while supporting the overall goals of the pricing department and The Samaritan Inn's mission. The Pricing Assistant works under the direction of the Pricing Coordinator and collaborates with donations, online sales, and sales floor teams to ensure timely movement of merchandise from intake to sale.Essential Functions:
Price donated merchandise according to established category guidelines, condition standards, and department expectations. Review items for brand, quality, condition, completeness, and resale potential before ticketing. Tag merchandise accurately and consistently, ensuring items are clearly marked and ready for curation or sales floor placement. Sort and stage merchandise by category and pricing priority to support efficient daily production flow. Escalate premium, collectible, designer, vintage, or otherwise unusual items to the Pricing Coordinator for review. Support daily productivity goals by maintaining pace, minimizing errors, and following workflow direction. Assist with markdowns, sale preparation, price changes, and other pricing-related projects as assigned. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including proper separation of processed and unprocessed merchandise. Assist with moving completed merchandise to the next workflow stage as needed to support floor flow and turnaround time. Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers and represent the store in a professional and service-oriented manner.Required Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Retail, production, warehouse, resale, or related experience preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with consistent productivity expectations. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established standards and direction. Ability to assess basic merchandise condition and recognize when items require review by a supervisor. Basic comfort using POS tags, labels, and simple computer-based tools as needed.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in thrift, resale, nonprofit retail, or merchandise processing environments. Familiarity with clothing, housewares, accessories, decor, or other common resale categories. Knowledge of brands and merchandise quality indicators. Experience working in a team-oriented production setting. Core Competencies /Soft Skills:
