Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Membership Recruitment Specialist is a part-time, casual employee who implements effective marketing and recruiting strategies to increase awareness and participation in Girl Scouting through in-person presentations; leading membership information/registration events at various community locations including schools, faith-based institutions, and libraries. Responsibilities include adult and girl recruitment, marketing Girl Scouts, capturing leads, hosting an engaging Girl Scout activity for girls and their caregiver/parent, and using proven sales techniques to convert leads in support of council membership goals. All functions are performed collaboratively with council staff and volunteers.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Serves as primary on-site host for in-school and evening registration events designed to introduce Girl Scouting to potential new girls and volunteers and families Clearly communicate to potential members the Girl Scouts mission including the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the benefits of being a Girl Scout member Works collaboratively with recruitment coordinators, volunteer recruiters, and other staff to fulfill goals for each event Promotes events via in-school rallies (as schedules permit) Assists with and performs registration for new members, including troubleshooting issues with the online registration system Record event attendance and results Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council Other duties as assigned to promote the successful implementation of GSNEO's goals/objectives
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in outside sales, recruiting, retail, or public relations helpful Willingness to lead a group event and to engage potential members in conversation Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, primarily early evenings and some optional day events Willingness and ability to travel within northeast Ohio to events Computer literacy, including Outlook and Excel basics Excellent customer service skills Reliability and commitment to the Girl Scout mission and team Self-starter, with problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Ability to pay close attention to detail and protect confidential information Ability to work as part of a team Commitment to inclusiveness Valid driver's license, with access to reliable personal transportation which is properly licensed and insured Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred
