As a Retail Sales Associate, you'll help customers make confident purchasing decisions, operate the cash register, stock and merchandise products, and help keep the store welcoming, organized, and safe. You'll develop knowledge of gardening, pet, animal, and other store products while working as part of a reliable, customer-focused team.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create a welcoming shopping experience by greeting customers, answering questions, and helping them find products that meet their needs. Develop and maintain product knowledge to provide helpful information, suggestions, and recommendations. Utilize customer-focused selling skills, add-on selling, closing skills, and other sales generating skills. Accurately process purchases, returns, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, and other transactions using the point-of-sale system. Stock, replenish, rotate, price, and merchandise products to maintain organized and shop-ready displays. Assemble products and displays. Assist with inventory counts, receiving merchandise, and communicating low-stock or replenishment needs. Assist customers with loading merchandise as needed. Follow established procedures related to cash handling, loss prevention, inventory control, and store safety. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships. Practice punctual and reliable attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent . Strong customer focus with excellent communication and listening skills. Ability to stay organized, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple tasks. Positive attitude that contributes to a welcoming team environment. Ability to complete forklift and powered equipment training and safely operate assigned equipment. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing and walking for extended periods, frequently bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching, climbing stairs or step ladders, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office. Professional appearance and demeanor. Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Product knowledge is preferred in one or more of the following areas: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, horse/equine, hardware, fencing, lawn & garden supplies, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, or wild bird supplies.
SCHEDULE
This position is available either part-time or full-time.
Full-time:
40 hours/week;
Part-time:
16-32 hours/week. Sunday through Saturday (schedule will vary). Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include: Part-time employees: Medical Insurance (100% employer-paid for employee coverage.
