Retail Team Lead / Key Holder The Grove Clothing & Gifts Claremont, CA Job Details Part-time $19 an hour 18 hours ago Benefits 401(k) Employee discount Qualifications Customer communication Teamwork Merchandising Organizational skills Retail management Time management Full Job Description The Key Holder serves as the leader on duty when store management is unavailable, ensuring smooth daily operations, exceptional customer service, and a fun, engaging shopping experience. This role supports the management team by supervising associates, maintaining store standards, driving sales, and providing operational support in a fast-paced retail environment focused on gifts, collectibles, pop culture merchandise, and novelty products. Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Store Operations Act as Manager on Duty during assigned shifts, making decisions and resolving issues as needed. Open and close the store according to company procedures, including cash handling, alarm systems, and security protocols. Provide direction, coaching, and support to sales associates throughout the shift. Ensure company policies, procedures, and operational standards are followed consistently. Address customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate. Customer Experience Create a welcoming, energetic, and engaging shopping environment. Deliver exceptional customer service and model service expectations for the team. Assist customers in finding unique gifts, collectibles, and trending pop culture products. Build product knowledge to confidently recommend merchandise and enhance the customer experience. Promote loyalty programs, special promotions, and store events. Sales & Merchandising Support sales goals by motivating the team and driving customer engagement. Monitor sales floor activity and identify opportunities to increase sales. Maintain visually appealing merchandise displays and ensure products are properly stocked. Assist with new product launches, seasonal displays, and promotional setups. Ensure the store remains clean, organized, and ready for customers at all times. Inventory & Loss Prevention Assist with receiving shipments, processing inventory, and replenishing stock. Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs. Follow loss prevention procedures and help minimize shrink. Ensure merchandise is properly secured and displayed according to company standards. Qualifications Previous retail experience required; supervisory or key holder experience preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when management is not present. Passion for customer service and creating memorable shopping experiences. Interest in pop culture, collectibles, sports, gaming, entertainment, anime, comics, movies, or novelty gifts is a plus. Comfortable handling cash, operating a POS system, and performing opening/closing procedures. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods. Schedule Requirements Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work opening and closing shifts as needed.
