Job Description

Job Overview Join our team as a Liquor Store Clerk at our locally owned store. In this role, you'll be the friendly face guiding customers through our extensive selection of beverages, ensuring they find exactly what they need while providing exceptional service. Your energy and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment that encourages repeat visits and boosts sales. Whether managing transactions at the POS system or assisting with product displays, your proactive approach will keep the store running smoothly and efficiently. Duties Greet customers, assist in locating specific items, and use product knowledge to recommend wines, spirits, and beers Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems, accurately handle cash and credit transactions, and balance drawers at the end of shifts. Conduct product demos and upselling to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities Maintain merchandising displays and ensure shelves are stocked with products Assist with inventory management by stocking shelves, organizing products, and conducting regular stock checks Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and offering recommendations Handle phone inquiries professionally, providing information about store hours, product availability, and promotions Experience Previous retail sales or grocery store experience is preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn Familiarity with POS systems, cashiering procedures, and basic retail math is essential for smooth transactions Strong communication skills and professional phone etiquette are important for engaging with customers confidently Experience in merchandising, upselling techniques, and stock management. Knowledge of liquor regulations and responsible alcohol service is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older The role requires standing for long periods, bending, and frequently lifting heavy cases of beverages (typically up to 40 - 50 lbs) Must be willing to work evenings and weekends (we work hard on making the schedule fair for everyone, including rotating weekend shifts) Previous cashier experience preferred
