Retail Sales Associate

Job Summary Handcart Garden Center is seeking a motivated, dependable, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Garden Center Retail Associate. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a passion for plants, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. As a key member of our team, you will assist customers with plant selection and care, maintain the appearance and organization of the nursery, and support daily operations including watering, merchandising, and inventory management. You will play an important role in creating a welcoming experience for our customers. Responsibilities Greet customers warmly and provide expert advice on plant care, landscape maintenance, and gardening products. Assist customers in selecting items suited to their needs, offering recommendations based on their projects or interests. Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for sales transactions, cash handling, and receipts. Stock shelves efficiently by organizing merchandise, replenishing inventory, and ensuring attractive displays through merchandising techniques. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, storage areas, and outdoor displays to create an inviting shopping environment. Support inventory management by conducting stock checks and assisting with inventory counts using retail math skills. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth store operations and exceptional customer service at all times. Qualifications Passion for gardening, horticulture, landscape design is highly desirable. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customers. Previous experience with retail sales, cashiering, or customer service is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Basic organizational skills to manage stocking duties and maintain store presentation standards. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures ensures accurate transactions. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves, watering care or assisting customers in the heat, outdoors.
