Job Description:
Student employees within the Reitz Union must: Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester Ability to respond to emergencies and assist with building evacuations per departmental procedures or as directed by building management Demonstrated professionalism and exceptional customer service skills Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong work ethic: productive, self-motivated, and dependable
Position Responsibilities:
Commitment to a minimum of 15 hours per week, with flexibility based on operational needs Completion of required training during the Spring 2026 semester Consistent availability for Summer C semester (May 11 - August 7) Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and academic breaks as needed
Position Specific Responsibilities:
Review and interpret Event Management System (EMS) documents to ensure correct equipment and room setups for meetings and events Represent building management at all events, including banquets, films, dances, and conferences; communicate with event coordinators to ensure arrangements meet expectations and resolve issues as they arise Serve as an ambassador for the Reitz Union and the University of Florida, providing accurate information and resources to guests and staff Secure the building by locking/unlocking doors and access areas and conducting regular walkthroughs Advise operations staff and supervisors of situations affecting policies or procedures, updating documentation and personnel as necessary (e.g., Nightly Reports, emails) Provide customer service support via two-way radio, addressing concerns, directing service requests, and assisting with room access Maintain awareness of safety systems, fire alarms, violence protocols, campus alcohol/drug policies, and Reitz Union-specific policies Supervise student staff and ensure tasks are completed efficiently Assist Event Productions with room and equipment setups/breakdowns to maintain high standards for guest experience as needed Support Information Desk coverage as needed Attend scheduled training and meetings; engage in personal and professional development opportunities Complete all required training in a timely manner Perform other duties as assigned Ability to lift up to 45 pounds as needed
Advertised Salary:
$15.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
Although no experience is necessary to and all training will be provided, we would prefer for all student employees to: Experience supervising or directing peers Strong verbal and written communication skills General knowledge of the Reitz Union and University of Florida campus Detail-oriented, dependable, timely, and able to make decisions in stressful situations CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain Special Instructions to
