The Ormond Beach Family YMCA is looking for enthusiastic applicants to assist in their Kid Zone. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Kid Zone Attendant is responsible for creating a safe and fun environment for children 12 years and under while their parents/guardians use the Y facilities.

Monday-Saturday 8am-11am Monday-Thursday 4pm-7pm

• Annual Support Campaign
• Provide support for the annual campaign and other special events when possible and as directed.
• Risk Management
• Remain familiar with risk management procedures in the YMCA facility, which include but are not limited to: swimming pool rules and procedures, current CPR/AEDand First Aid certification, child abuse prevention, and understanding specific responsibilities during fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.

Job-Specific Functions:

Work cooperatively with all Kid Zone staff in planning and carrying out diverse program experiences that promote an active, healthy lifestyle for participants. Promote good personal relationships, conduct and respect within his/her group and among all other participants, groups and staff. Assume leadership of the group of participants assigned to his/her charge, mentor, plan, teach, and supervise. Take responsibility for the continuous cleanliness of the Kid Zone areas and the safety of all equipment used. Prepare incident reports (legibly and on the proper forms) as required, including health or safety issues concerning participants as they arrive for the program. Perform other duties as assigned. Mental Requirements:

Ability to move up to 50 lbs. in the form of children and boxes of program supplies. Ability to stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility to quickly reach a child or situation to prevent harm. Ability to bend, kneel and reach. Visual abilities to see participants and staff to ensure their safety and well-being. Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. High School Diploma or GED Experience:

Previous childcare experience strongly preferred

Certifications:

CPR/First Aid certifications needed within 30 days of hire Employment is contingent on passing both a fingerprint-based background check and pre-hire drug test.
