Job Description
Pool Transporter - ( 260003FX ) Description Transports patients to and from the Radiology Department via wheelchair, stretcher or bed, and escorts ambulatory patients as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Essential Functions
- Identifies patients by name and ID band (let nurse know if no ID band). Uses 2 identifiers
- Selects proper type of transporting device that suits the needs of patients (infants, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric).
- Promotes quality guest relations by identifying both internal and external customers; acknowledging customers promptly; and, using expressions that express respect, understanding, and enhance self-esteem.
- Creates a positive impression through effective use of telephone skills such as answering the phone by the third ring, identification of self and department, listening attentively, personalizing the conversation and verifying information.
- Creates a supportive climate for customers by allowing customers to express themselves, addressing their concerns as being real and encouraging two-way communication.
- Promotes therapeutic interaction with customers by identifying behaviors resulting from dissatisfaction, then, allowing customers to respond openly, showing empathy and discussing options.
- Careful handling of IV's and poles, Foleys, tubes while moving and/or transporting patients.
- Proper knowledge of handling patients with special needs.
- Patients on respirators will be transported with the assistance of the patient's nurse and respiratory tech
- Coordinates with technologists/nurses timing issues related to exam time.
