2773 The position of Store Lead is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative. A person in this position acts as a leader in the store and is a critical member of the store team. The Store Lead is expected to learn and possess the skills, knowledge, and ability to handle key carrier duties on a regular basis as business needs dictate.
Job Summary:
These are the basic requirements of the position and must be performed competently. Assist customers with all transactions for the purchase or returns of goods and services. Ensure customer transactions are processed promptly and accurately. Responsible for training of new employees and helping manager identify training needs. Supervise checkout stations on regular basis. Provide expertise in one or more areas or functions. Utilize exceptional customer service skills, sales techniques, and product knowledge to connect customers with the right product and drive sales. Maintain knowledge of all store departments and be able to perform all activities of employees in addition to handling more complex transactions or customer service situations. Assist with loss prevention efforts by providing proactive customer service. Oversees employee productivity, breaks and daily scheduling. Communicates performance issues to management. Assign duties to employees, as well as directing workflow. Ensure employees follow accounting policies, safety procedures and customer service standards. Act as manager on duty when necessary. Ability to handle problems that other employees cannot address. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
High School diploma or GED preferred. Previous customer service experience and two years of retail experience preferred. Excellent written and communication skills. Acknowledge all customers, employees, and vendors in a friendly and appropriate manner. Ability to multitask and determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance. Ability to communicate using proper telephone etiquette with customers, other employees, and vendors. Must have a strong team player focus in all interactions- ability to work under pressure. Ability to properly handle money, give change and record multiple transactions efficiently and accurately. Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
