Weekend Tasting Room Associate

August Hill Winery & Illinois Sparkling Co. is seeking enthusiastic and guest-focused individuals to join our Tasting Room team as Weekend Sales Associates. This position plays a key role in creating memorable tasting experiences, guiding wine purchases, and supporting overall tasting room operations. We are currently looking to hire three associates. This position begins as part-time, with potential for full-time opportunities. Weekend and holiday availability is required for all candidates, and we are actively seeking at least one team member who can also work 1 to 2 weekdays. We provide all necessary product and wine service training — all you need to bring is your passion for wine, people, and great hospitality.

Willingness to learn about wine, from vineyard to glass Friendly, outgoing personality and a passion for working with people Professional demeanor and excellent verbal communication skills Team-oriented, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment Ability to take direction, follow procedures, and work independently when needed Prior experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality is a plus (but not required) Must be 21 years or older with a valid driver's license Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and special events Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., cases of wine) Able to help with event setup, breakdown, and restocking as needed Must obtain or be able to obtain BASSET certification (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education Training)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet all guests and provide friendly, informative service during tastings and purchases. Deliver a welcoming and educational guest experience, sharing details about our wines, winery story, and wine club. Serve wine and small food items in accordance with service and safety guidelines. Input orders accurately and maintain guest notes through our point-of-sale (POS) system. Support daily operations such as restocking, setup, cleanup, and customer flow. Educate guests (with training provided) on wine pairings, production methods, and Illinois-grown wines. Encourage and assist with Wine Club sign-ups and member engagement. Help drive retail sales through attentive, engaging customer interactions. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professionalism throughout the tasting room. May occasionally assist with off-site tastings, festivals, or special events. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the tasting room team.
