Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and positive-energy Retail Sales Associate to join our Sturgis team! The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for creating a helpful, friendly shopping experience while maintaining clean, stocked, and organized sales areas. This role includes assisting customers, stocking merchandise, operating the register, supporting basic store services, completing assigned tasks, and helping keep the store safe, welcoming, and ready for business. Duties Greet every customer promptly, warmly, and professionally. Assist customers in locating products and answering basic product questions. Provide helpful, service-focused support in departments such as hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, lawn and garden, lumber, rental, and outdoor power equipment. Walk customers to products whenever possible rather than simply pointing. Help maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floors. Stock merchandise, front and face shelves, and keep aisles neat and shoppable. Monitor assigned areas for low inventory, misplaced items, damaged products, or pricing issues. Communicate customer needs, product requests, and inventory concerns to management. Operate the cash register and process sales accurately when needed. Answer phones professionally and direct calls or messages to the appropriate person. Assist with returns, exchanges, special orders, and customer account transactions according to company policy. Support paint mixing, key cutting, loading assistance, and other customer services as trained. Help customers load purchases safely and courteously. Keep workstations, counters, aisles, restrooms, and common areas clean and free of clutter. Remove trash, sweep floors, and help maintain a clean store environment throughout the day. Watch for safety hazards, blocked aisles, spills, or tripping risks and correct or report them immediately. Restock returned merchandise to its proper home location. Check the community/task board daily and complete assigned duties. Follow opening and closing procedures as assigned. Maintain a positive, respectful attitude with customers, coworkers, vendors, and management. Represent the company in a way that reflects H&H's commitment to service, community, and professionalism. Support team members during busy periods and help wherever needed. Learn product knowledge over time and ask questions when unsure. Protect confidential company information, including pricing, vendors, customer accounts, and internal procedures. Follow company policies regarding attendance, dress code, safety, customer service, and conduct. Requirements Proven positive experience with people and assisting the general public in some form. Proficiency in computer literacy and operations Excellent communication skills with a professional phone manner Experience working with the public at all levels is preferred Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment Retail experience or sales background is advantageous Ability to multitask, effectively prioritize and enjoy challenges is a must Must have reliable and dependable transportation Must adhere to a strict call-in/no-show policy; requests off must be made well in advance and be minimal in nature This position will require work on Saturdays and Holidays Must be willing to submit to (and pass) a background check and drug screen Join us to be part of an energetic team committed to excellence!
