Job Description

The Utility Clerk or Sacker plays a crucial role in the daily operations for our Front-End Team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask effectively. The ideal candidate will be adept at properly sacking groceries, complying with customer requests, assisting with finding items for customers or returning items to their proper location. This position also requires the ability to assist customers to their vehicles, retrieve carts from the parking lot, and help maintain a clear shopping environment. This is a non-exempt position that formally reports to the Front-End Manager.
Responsibilities:
Obtain a liquor license and or food handlers permit as required by the county in which you are working in. This should be completed within the first 14 days of starting. Assist with bagging groceries efficiently and accurately.
Provide exceptional customer service:
greeting customers, asking if any preferences on how their groceries should be sacked, and offering assistance to their vehicle. Know and practice Cosentino's Customer Service Standards or Red-Carpet Service. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the sales floor, breakroom, check stands, and restrooms. Retrieving carts from the parking lot. Making sure they are clean and operation for customers to use. Communicate effectively with team members and management. Resolve customer inquiries or concerns. If unable to do so with confidence, find a member of store management to help. Know and follow Cosentino's rules regarding alcohol and tobacco sales and handling of these items. Effectively multitask, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Prevent loss merchandise by checking the bottom of the shopping carts for cashiers. Support your company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed and gaining new skills when necessary. Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. General mathematics skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Physical Abilities Pushing and pulling grocery items & carts to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 25 lbs. Standing and walking for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 30lbs., to a height of 36 inches. Bending and squatting, at times all the way to floor level. Climbing a ladder, possibly up to 5ft.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with bagging merchandise. Demonstrated leadership potential. Previous experience in a retail environment. Experience with stocking merchandise. Demonstrated positivity.
