The Role The Industrial Outside Sales Representative is responsible for growing sales and strengthening customer relationships within an assigned territory. This role focuses on developing new business, expanding existing accounts, and serving as a strategic salesperson to customers by understanding their operational needs and providing effective industrial solutions. This position works closely with Branch Managers, Inside Sales, Purchasing, Marketing, and vendor partners to ensure exceptional customer service, product availability, and long-term account growth. Local travel is required.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities Develop, manage, and grow an assigned territory of industrial customers Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting and relationship building Build strong, long-term relationships with key decision makers and influencers at customer locations Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions Collaborate with Branch Managers and Inside Sales teams to ensure seamless customer support Work with Purchasing Department and vendors to support product selection, availability, and customer requirements Participate in vendor training, product demonstrations, and joint sales calls as appropriate Monitor sales activity, pricing, and margins to achieve sales targets and profitability goals Maintain accurate records of customer activity and opportunities using company systems Stay current on product knowledge, market trends, and competitive activity Desired Skills & Qualifications Previous outside sales experience preferred, industrial or distribution background a plus Bachelor's degree a plus Strong product knowledge or ability to quickly learn industrial products and applications Sales driven mindset with a competitive, results oriented approach Strong business acumen and customer focused problem solving skills Excellent time management and organizational abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to build rapport and credibility with customers, vendors, and internal teams Professionalism, integrity, tact, diplomacy, and self awareness Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently Comfortable using technology and CRM tools to support sales activity and follow through Capable of handling confidential or sensitive information appropriately Benefits Offered Great work environment Competitive compensation (base salary + incentive/commission structure, where applicable) 401(k) with company match Health Insurance Dental & Vision Insurance Short Term & Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, Critical Illness & Accident, Hospital Indemnity Coverage Paid Vacation Paid Sick Time Paid Holidays Ongoing education and professional development Opportunities for career growth and advancement
