Job Description

A Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per Company standards, generating sales and safeguarding company assets. The Sales Associate position is an hourly, part-time position that follows an Academic-Year Schedule . Hours will increase during the busier times of year for the store, which are the weeks at the beginning of an academic term or semester, event weekends (such as Family Weekend in October and Reunion Weekend in the Spring), and especially for the start of the fall term. Associates may also be called in to cover a shift in the event of an unexpected absence. The fall term always begins over Labor Day Weekend, and it is a mandatory work weekend . Regular Store hours are open Monday
  • Friday from 8:30 AM
  • 4:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM
  • 1:00 PM.
There are a few Sundays the store is open throughout the year, maybe up to 3 of them. There are extended hours for event weekends and registration days, for which there is ample advanced notice. Sales associates typically work Saturdays during the acedemic year, while students are on campus. The store is open during the academic school year, and when there are no registraiton periods or events, hours will average roughly between 8
  • 14 hours per week.
There are no part-time hours when students are not on campus . This includes all school vacations, unless otherwise notified. Tasks and Responsibilities Engaging with customers that come into the store. Creating a friendly and welcoming environment. Ringing up sales at registers/basic cashiering and cash handling processes. Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise and monitoring sales floor stock. Aid customers in locating merchandise. Sales floor basic cleaning and housekeeping functions Communicate customer requests to management. Participate in physical inventory and cycle counts. Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by a manager.
Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of basic PC computer functions Ability to communicate well with other associates and customers Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation that may be necessary
Requirements:
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above Ability to work varied hours/days, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
