ReUse Action is looking for a Store Associate to join our Buffalo retail team. We reclaim and sell building materials, architectural salvage, lumber, insulation, cabinets, doors, fixtures, and other useful materials. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with customers, handling materials, learning new things, and pitching in wherever work needs to be done. This is a hands-on job in a store where the inventory and daily workload are always changing. What You'll Do Help customers find, measure, select, and move materials. Answer customer questions in person and by phone. Receive materials from customers, contractors, and our salvage crews. Sort, clean, process, price, and stock incoming materials. Use established pricing guides and work with experienced staff when pricing unfamiliar items. Organize and merchandise materials throughout the store. Load and unload lumber, cabinets, doors, appliances, insulation, and other building materials. Safely use dollies, carts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. Operate the Point of Sale system and process cash and electronic payments. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe store. Assist with photographs, product information, and online listings as needed. Work cooperatively with store, warehouse, and salvage staff. Take initiative, identify work that needs to be done, and help get it done. Maintain a professional, respectful, and courteous manner with customers, coworkers, donors, contractors, and the public. We're looking for someone who: Is reliable, organized, and comfortable working as part of a small team. Communicates well and provides good customer service. Is comfortable with physical, hands-on work. Is willing to learn about building materials and unfamiliar products. Has basic math skills and can work with measurements, quantities, pricing, and transactions. Is comfortable using basic computers, phones, email, and Point of Sale systems. Can regularly lift up to 50 pounds and work with others to move heavier or awkward materials. Can stand, bend, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, and carry materials throughout the workday. Wears sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate for working around building materials and material-handling equipment. Is available to work Tuesday through Saturday. Experience in retail, construction, hardware, building materials, warehouse work, architectural salvage, woodworking, or similar work is helpful but not required. Forklift experience is a plus.
