Job Description
A trade apprenticeship training center in Copiague is hiring an evening site monitor for its Monday-through-Wednesday classes, starting in October. Classes run 2:45 to 5:45; the shift is 2:30 to 6:00 to cover arrival and dismissal. The role is part presence, part support. You'll be visible in the building while class is in session, keep an eye on the entrance and parking area, and give the instructor a hand with light paperwork. What you'll do Maintain a visible presence in the classroom and shop areas during class hours Monitor entry and exit; confirm that only enrolled students and expected visitors are on site Walk the building and parking lot at the start and end of each shift Address disruptions calmly and report them in writing to the program director Assist the instructor with light administrative work: attendance and sign-in logs, distributing and collecting materials, basic filing and copying Secure classrooms and exterior doors at the end of the session What we're looking for Prior experience in security, law enforcement, corrections, the military, or school or campus monitoring Comfortable working with adults in a hands-on trade training environment Dependable and punctual; the schedule is fixed and consistent week to week Able to stand and walk for the length of a shift Basic computer skills (email, simple spreadsheets) High school diploma or equivalent Schedule and pay $40.00 per hour. Three and a half hours per shift, Monday through Wednesday, following the program calendar beginning in October. Consistent hours, no nights or weekends.
