Job Description
Overview The Store Operations & Inventory Associate supports the daily retail operations of The Grateful Dog Bakery by maintaining accurate inventory, delivering exceptional customer service, assisting with treat decorating, minimal baking, and ensuring a clean, organized store environment. This role is essential to creating a welcoming experience for customers and ensuring product availability, quality, and presentation. Duties Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels for all retail items, treats, and supplies using reporting tools and ongoing observation.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts in FranPOS, including adjustments and corrections.
- Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments.
- Rotate stock using FIFO principles and expiration dates to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
- Communicate low-stock or backorder issues promptly. Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance about products, ingredients, and pet-safe options.
- Answer questions about treat customization, special orders, and bakery policies.
- Operate the POS system accurately for sales, returns, and exchanges.
- Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor that reflects the brand's values. Treat Decorating & Product Presentation
- Assist with basic treat decorating tasks as assigned (icing, sprinkles, simple designs).
- Follow established decoration standards as well as new designs to ensure consistency and quality.
- Package treats attractively and safely for retail display.
- Restock display cases and ensure products are visually appealing. Store Cleanliness & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized retail floor, including shelves, displays, and counters.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, and sanitizing high-touch areas.
- Assist with end-of-shift cleaning duties as outlined in store policy.
- Ensure all customer-facing areas meet health and safety standards. Operational Support
- Assist with merchandising, signage, and seasonal product displays.
- Prepare products for sale (labeling, pricing, packaging).
- Follow all store policies regarding safety, sanitation, and customer interactions.
- Communicate operational issues, customer feedback, or supply needs to the owner. Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Basic decorating or artistic skills preferred (training provided).
- Experience with POS systems and retail inventory management is a plus.
