Job Description
About Ravenwood Ravenwood is a seasonal destination in Kerhonkson, NY — a restored 1850s dairy barn in the Hudson Valley operating as a café, farm stand, and art and design showcase from late April through mid-November. We're open Thursday through Sunday, drawing a mix of Hudson Valley locals and visitors looking for something worth the drive. The space brings together food, agriculture, art, and craft under one roof — and the people who work here are a genuine part of what makes it worth coming to. We're building our 2026 team and have two Front of House openings for people who want to show up, contribute, and be part of a place that's doing something a little different. ...................... The Roles These two positions share a title but each has its own center of gravity. When you apply, tell us which description fits you best — or if you feel called to both, say so. Position A — Floor & Retail Focus Your home base is the shop floor and the register. You're the first face guests encounter, the one who can tell them where the olive oil comes from, who made the linen napkins, and why the tomatoes this week are worth talking about. You keep the space beautiful, the shelves stocked, and the transactions moving. You're comfortable in Shopify, quick with a recommendation, and you genuinely enjoy the rhythm of a retail floor that's also part café, part gallery. Position B — Beverage & Service Float Focus You live at the hinge between front and back of house. Your primary domain is drinks — coffee, cocktails, beer, wine, iced tea — and you take real pride in executing them well. But you're also the person who spots a ticket backing up and jumps in, who covers the register when the line builds, who helps plate during a rush without being asked. You read the room constantly and fill gaps before they become problems. Bartending or café beverage experience is strongly preferred. ............... What Both Positions Share Both roles are rooted in the same ethos: warmth, competence, and genuine enthusiasm for this place and the people who visit it. Across both, you can expect to: Welcome and engage guests in a way that feels personal, not scripted Develop working knowledge of our food, drink, art, and design offerings — and share that knowledge naturally Contribute to opening and closing procedures and keep shared spaces impeccable Collaborate closely within a small, tight-knit team where everyone's role matters Participate in the tip pool alongside the full team (front and back of house) What We're Looking For Front-of-house experience in retail, café, restaurant, or hospitality settings (preferred) Bartending or beverage experience for Position B (strongly preferred); must be 21+ Friday-Sunday availability throughout the season; holiday availability required Punctuality and reliability — this is non-negotiable for a small team Strong communication skills in person, by phone, and via email Ability to stay calm, focused, and adaptable in a fast-moving environment Enthusiasm for food, agriculture, art, and design — the more genuine, the better Comfortable on your feet for full shifts, in variable indoor conditions (heat and cold) Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to our Kerhonkson location High school diploma or equivalent; must be authorized to work in the US Digital literacy a plus: Shopify, Google Drive, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite Extra hours may be available for remote admin and marketing support (newsletters, social media) for candidates with relevant skills and interest. ..................
