Farm Stand Retail Associate (Seasonal) Willowsford Conservancy & Farm is seeking a seasonal Farm Stand Retail Associate to support our weekly farm stands and community events. This is a key, customer-facing role responsible for creating a welcoming, organized, and engaging experience for both CSA members and farm stand customers. The Farm Stand Retail Associate serves as the primary on-site staff presence during market hours, supporting retail operations, inventory management, and coordination with volunteers and event partners. This position begins in May and runs through the end of October, with the opportunity to continue on a part-time basis through the winter season based on performance and organizational needs. Background Willowsford Farm, which is part of a non-profit land conservancy, is seeking a full-time Farmer to join our team year round. Reporting to the Farm Director, the Farmer works with a small team to ensure the timely production and distribution of high-quality produce. The Farmer is committed to Willowsford Conservancy's mission and vision and embraces the community's values, image, and goals. Willowsford Conservancy manages 2,600 acres of woodlands, meadows, wetlands, trails, and agricultural land in Loudoun County, Virginia. Founded as a non-profit organization as part of the only "agrihood" in the Washington, DC area, Willowsford is part of a growing movement for residential environmental sustainability where healthy people and healthy land coexist. Willowsford Farm is a 14 acre organic farm at the center of the community and serving the greater public. The farm offers community-supported agriculture (CSA) shares and operates two farm stands while also delivering field trips, engagement programs, and food access outreach.

• Serve as the primary on-site staff presence at each farm stand, working closely with CSA host volunteers to create an organized, efficient, and welcoming experience for both CSA members and farm stand customers
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and positively represent the Farm at weekly farm stands
• Set up, break down, and maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment following food safety standards
• Handle produce and products with care to maintain quality and freshness
• Monitor product quality throughout the market, removing or flagging items that do not meet standards
• Support inventory management, including tracking product levels, restocking, and communicating needs to the farm team
• Assist with light packing, preparation, and organization of products for market
• Operate point-of-sale system and accurately process transactions
• Share information about produce, farm practices, and seasonal availability to help customers feel connected to their food
• Oversee vendor setup and breakdown when we have mini markets
• Communicate with the farm team regarding product availability and inventory needs and share customer feedback and observations Additional duties, if interest and availability allows
• Support monthly farm stand and community events, including coordinating with partner vendors
• Assist with CSA share packing and distribution based on availability and interest
• Support additional inventory, event prep, or light farm tasks as needed Minimum Requirements & Experience
• Interest in local food, sustainable agriculture, or community-based farming
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Reliable and able to work independently[KG1]
• Comfortable coordinating with volunteers and talking with customers
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather
• Authorized to work in the U.S. Schedule & Hours

Seasonal Timing:

May through October, with potential for winter continuation

Thursdays:

~5+ hours (farm stand is open 4 pm to 6 pm)

Saturdays:

~6+ hours (farm stand is open 9 am to 1 pm)

• Additional hours available for inventory, events, CSA packing, and farm tasks which could take place on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday Compensation This is a seasonal, hourly position paying $19-21 per hour.
