Beach Paws Boutique is tiny and operates with just one team member at a time. Team member shall have full responsibility for opening & closing, greeting visitors and customers, helping customers find appropriate items, helping visitors with directions and recommendations, keeping shop clean, receiving stock, shelving stock, pricing stock. The associate will become an expert on Square for Retail Point of Sale. Competence and dedication will lead to advancement to Assistant Manager position with pay increase within 1-3 months. Duties include every aspect of running a small boutique style shop including but not limited to opening and closing shop, balancing cash drawer, dusting, vacuuming, checking and double checking inventory. The successful team member will greet customers warmly, engage them in conversation to determine their wants and needs. Team member is also expected to assist visitors with information about Colonial Beach

• even if they are not customers!

Basically you will be an Ambassador for Dr. Caryn and for the Town of Colonial Beach, treating all folks who come into the shop with kindness and respect. You may be helping visitors who have questions about parking, or the Town as well as the products for sale in the shop. You will become knowledgeable so that you can recommend products (for people and pets) that meet customers' needs. You will be expected to work towards becoming a product expert and working towards gaining professional knowledge about animal behavior and basic pet care through online training programs. You will be expected to know Dr. Caryn's product line inside & out. You will be expected to be proficient in the operation of the cash drawer, handling cash transactions accurately and honestly, and providing customers with receipts via email or text. Additionally, you will participate in promotional events to drive sales using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor, Google. You will always resolve customer complaints in a professional manner to ensure satisfaction.

Requirements:

• Friendly, welcoming, enjoys working with the public, strong communication skills, excellent focus and attention to detail, the ability to engage customers effectively
• Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is a plus
• Math skills and cash counting skills for handling transactions accurately and balancing cash drawer
• Prior experience in retail sales, working with dogs/cats, and children is preferred
• Knowledge of Square POS for Retail is a plus, knowledge of Colonial Beach is also a plus
• Excellent organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently
• Familiarity with operating a cash drawer
