Job Description
Job Overview Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity is seeking a dependable, customer-focused, and hands-on ReStore Associate to support daily operations at our Waterbury ReStore. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming shopping experience for customers, supporting donors, maintaining an organized sales floor, and advancing Habitat's mission of building affordable homes throughout Central Vermont. The ReStore Associate is a flexible team member who assists with a variety of store activities, including customer service, cashiering, pricing, merchandising, donation processing, cleaning, and general store operations. This position works under the direction of the ReStore Manager and Assistant ReStore Manager. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Retail Operations Provide excellent customer service by welcoming customers, answering questions, and assisting shoppers throughout the store. Operate the cash register and process customer purchases accurately. Assist customers with loading purchases into vehicles. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales floor. Support store opening, closing, and daily operational procedures. Donations & Merchandise Assist donors with unloading donations from vehicles. Receive, sort, clean, price, tag, and prepare donated items for resale. Help organize and merchandise donated goods throughout the store. Assist with moving furniture, appliances, building materials, and other donated items safely. Team Support Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers. Assist with special projects, store events, and seasonal activities. Follow all safety procedures and organizational policies. Qualifications Friendly, dependable, and customer-focused. Strong communication skills and willingness to assist others. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in a retail environment requiring standing, walking, and physical activity. Basic computer skills preferred. Retail, customer service, warehouse, construction, or donation-processing experience helpful but not required. Commitment to the mission of Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity.
