Retail Sales Associate

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service: promptly greet customers, respond to customer questions/concerns promptly, effectively, and courteously, assist customers in meeting their gaming needs, inform customers about special promotions, events and preorders, apply all selling behaviors during each transaction, and express gratitude to every customer for choosing Game Quest Gaming. Prioritize customers over tasks and demonstrate this commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture customer relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process customer purchases and exchanges accurately via the Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system. Address customer comments or questions in person or on the phone, answering phone calls promptly, courteously, and professionally to ensure every customer receives excellent customer service. Ensure that all areas of the store, including restrooms, are clean, organized, and merchandised according to company guidelines. Safeguard company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness, safety best practices, and making bank deposits as required. Conduct store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and move products from the stockroom to the front of the store to ensure that all products in the store are represented, organized, and alphabetized on the selling floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system. Ensure that all closeout paperwork for daily business transactions and bank deposit slips are completed correctly and accurately. Assist management in ensuring the store has sufficient cash and change for sales transactions. Make daily bank deposits following established guidelines. Check shipments for discrepancies or shortages. Report any discrepancies to the Owner/General Manager as needed. Consistently adhere to Game Quest Gaming policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, all policies and procedures in the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Follow all opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications:

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day. At least 1 year of retail sales, and/or customer service experience required. Video game knowledge preferred. Board game knowledge preferred. Trading card game knowledge preferred. Tabletop knowledge preferred.

Required Job Skills & Abilities:

Exceptional customer service skills. Provide genuine and friendly assistance to every customer during each visit. Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication and listening skills, both in person and on the phone, using spoken and written English. Work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Meet associate performance expectations, including attendance, professional dress, and grooming requirements. Operate the POS computer system and properly complete the required paperwork. Possess basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and alphabetizing skills. Self-motivation and ability to work as a team to complete necessary tasks in a timely manner. Problem-solving skills and judgment abilities. Follow instructions given in written or oral form. Deliver bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines. Work a flexible schedule, including extended hours/days as necessary, including nights, weekends, and some holidays. Minimum of 2 days/week at 4+ hours availability. Remain effective under pressure and handle stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and Game Quest Gaming. Bend, stoop, reach with arms/hands, climb ladders, and lift merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs. from ground level to shelving. Stand and move throughout the store unassisted to provide customer service or perform tasks in any part of the store for up to 10 hours per day. •Certain state-specific exceptions may apply.
