Description We are seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to help drive an evolution of our Quality Engineering organization for Commerce & Growth. This role will partner with leaders across Apple Services Engineering who develop quality engineering systems and tests and help re-imagine how we ship quality products to customers. The team is responsible for qualifying a wide array of diverse systems that operate at a massive scale - from server APIs powering our media experiences to user interfaces that deliver the best of our services to customers. AI is here to stay and new opportunities for raising quality while increasing efficiency abound. We are looking for an experienced quality leader with a proven track record of developing strategy, building processes and tools, and driving adoption across an organization. You should have a history of driving quality through tools, systems, and automation, and possess a strong background in software development. Additionally, you are a team player who is eager to collaborate and build partnerships with other quality and engineering organizations. Responsibilities Define and drive cross-organizational quality strategy and execution Collaborate with Engineering and Product partners to align on strategic efforts and incorporate them in the overall product lifecycle Define, instrument, and implement metrics to measure success of the strategic efforts Integrate AI as a core competency into Quality lifecycle and tooling (e.g., test case generation, anomaly detection, coverage analysis) Communicate progress effectively across the organization, to all levels of leadership. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years experience in the quality engineering space. Experience leading large technical organizations through change. Expert in the practice of QA/QE and track record of improving quality through processes, systems, and automation. Strong technical leadership and keen architecture sense. Capacity to engage in deep technical detail yet move fluidly into big-picture thinking. Honed practice of developing technical leaders, setting clear strategy, direction and goals Experience working with distributed teams across cultures, geography, and timezones. High value for teamwork, collaboration, and driving cross-functional alignment. Fluent in influencing without control. Strong practice of stakeholder management. Ability to drive clarity in the midst of ambiguity.
Superb communication skills:
ability to convey complicated concepts concisely and tailor messaging to different audiences. Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics. Preferred Qualifications Experience testing server-side systems. Experience planning and leading software release cycles. Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $248,000 and $372,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
