Job Description

Overview Element has an opportunity for a Department Supervisor within the Dynamics (Fatigue) Department. This role is critical to maintaining a safety-first culture while driving technical excellence and efficient workflow execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering background with hands-on knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics, along with the leadership skills to supervise laboratory operations and support project delivery. You will work closely with technicians, peers, Department Manager, General Manager, and site leadership, guiding daily lab activities, supporting customer interactions, and ensuring high-quality testing, reporting, and on-time delivery.
Salary:
$70,000 - $90.000/yr DOE Responsibilities Support the Department Manager/General Manager in efficient operation and growth of the department Supervise and coordinate daily activities of technical staff to meet deadlines and quality standards Serve as a key customer contact during on-site visits and throughout project execution Provide status updates, assist with quotations, and support customer communication Coordinate with internal teams (design, machine shop, etc.) to define test scope and fixture requirements Support project planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple fatigue testing programs Assist with preparation and review of technical reports and certifications Contribute to hiring, performance management, and timecard/overtime approvals as needed Champion and enforce department safety initiatives aligned with site strategy Skills / Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a testing, engineering, or related environment Working knowledge of fatigue testing, fracture mechanics, and fracture toughness concepts Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, or similar standards related to fatigue and fracture testing Experience with project coordination, planning, and managing multiple jobs simultaneously Ability to interpret test requirements and produce clear, accurate reports and certifications Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage workflow and motivate technical teams Solid understanding of laboratory operations and safety practices Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment Ability to lift
