Showroom Manager / Furniture Sales & Design Consultant Established furniture and interior design showroom in San Luis Obispo is seeking an experienced, highly organized professional to join our growing business in a key long-term role. This is more than a traditional retail sales position. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in furniture and interior design who enjoys working with clients, takes initiative, and is comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a beautiful boutique showroom. The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, highly organized, design-oriented, tech-savvy, and able to work independently. This position offers considerable autonomy and the opportunity to grow into an increasingly important role within the business. In addition to hourly compensation, this position earns commission on sales. A key part of this role is building strong client relationships, generating sales, and actively contributing to the continued growth of the business. Responsibilities Open and manage the showroom independently Provide exceptional customer service and build lasting client relationships Assist clients with furniture and design selections, from individual pieces to furnishing entire rooms or homes Follow up on leads, quotes, customer orders, and deliveries Process sales and orders using our POS system Maintain an organized, attractive, and welcoming showroom Assist with merchandising and showroom displays Create and maintain engaging social media content Assist with advertising, marketing, and local outreach Communicate professionally with clients and vendors Handle general showroom upkeep and whatever needs to be done to keep the store looking its best Actively develop client relationships, follow up on opportunities, generate sales, and help grow the business Qualifications Furniture or home furnishings sales experience strongly preferred Interior design experience, education, or a strong design background highly desirable Proven retail sales and customer service experience Strong sense of style and ability to confidently assist customers with furniture and design selections Strong Mac computer skills and overall comfort with technology Experience with POS systems and retail software Strong social media skills, particularly Instagram and Facebook Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through Professional, dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated Comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and making decisions Looking for a stable, long-term opportunity The Right Fit We are a small business, so everyone pitches in. We're looking for someone who understands that providing an exceptional showroom experience includes everything from helping a client furnish a home to keeping displays beautiful, fluffing pillows, watering plants, dusting, or taking out the trash. Schedule Approximately 24-30 hours per week Weekday schedule with some flexibility Every other Saturday availability required Our goal is to expand showroom hours to Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM-5:00 PM and Saturday, 11:00 AM-4:00 PM The showroom closes annually for a holiday break just before Christmas and reopens January 2nd or 3rd.
